We believe that God has given to certain people gifts for various individuals .WBC recognizes & activates those whom God has given gifts for various ministries and to encourage individuals to discover, develop & deploy these gifts into the service of God, and to be set apart by the “laying on of hands.”
Where candidates are married, WBC make sure that both marriage partners agree/or share in the call to ministry and support one another.with evidence of God's calling and that WBC should recognize & confirm God's gifts in individuals.
We believe that setting people apart for ministry is a biblical practice. It's an action of WBC that recognizes & releases ministry gifts to impart the blessing of God and his people upon the candidate who is licensed, ordained and commissioned. Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Sheperds & Teachers are to align one to another whether in the ministry or in the marketplace.
It's a personalized “marking out” for the blessing of God for a ministry & sphere of influence. In the Bible it is always associated with prayer and involves the setting apart of people for specific services.
Licensing is a process of evidence of God's calling, recognizing, examining, and credentialing a man or woman who will serve in a particular ministry, in a particular location and time.
Licensing, like ordination, is appropriate for people who will be performing ministry duties.
The license credential remains in effect as long as the person is serving in the ministry for which he or she was licensed.
Ordination is a process of recognizing, examining, and credentialing leadership in a person whose life work is to serve the body of Christ in ministry or the sphere of influence in the marketplace.
Ordination is the normal credential for a person who will serve as a five-fold ministry leader in ministry and the marketplace.
The ordination credential remains in effect throughout a person's life your outlook on faith and spirituality.
The Apostolic Commissioning is an alignment between heaven and earth. An official, earthly recognition of the fact that God has called and gifted a person to serve in the office of an Apostle.
It involves power in the spiritual dimension to release new declarations into the heavenlies concerning a new level of authority. Declaring in the heavens, “God, we acknowledge and receive Your gift to us in the office of Apostle.
1. Licensing.
Licensing by the “laying on of hands”, when location is available, or confirmation spoken by a Presbytery of Elders spoken over individuals, is the act of the WBC, affirming those who have given evidence of God’s calling into the gospel ministry.
Normally licensing calls for an examination of the candidate by the local ministry, and the WBC Council or its designee. The person to be licensed shall subscribe to an WBC Confession of Faith. Where a person is to be licensed to the gospel ministry, the spouse (if married) should share with him/her the commitment to that calling. Ideally, the candidate and spouse should both be present at the examination and at the service of licensing if such is held.
2. Ordaining.
Ordination by the “laying on of hands”, when location is available, or confirmation spoken by a Presbytery of Elders spoken over individuals , is the act of the WBC Council during a scheduled gathering of WBC. Affirming those who by sufficient opportunity for the judgment of individual gifts, after satisfactory examination by WBC in regard to personal Christian experience, call into the ministry and views of bible doctrine is solemnly and publicly set apart and ordained to the work of gospel ministry.
Normally ordination calls for an examination of the candidate by the WBC Council (or its equivalent). The person to be ordained shall subscribe to the WBC Confession of Faith. Where a brother is to be ordained to the gospel ministry, his wife (if married) should share with him his commitment to that calling. Husband and wife should both be present at the examination and at the service of ordination.
Ordination should ordinarily not take place until a person has been licensed and in ministry for a minimum of one year. Those who are ordained to the ministry of the gospel should manifest a spirit of servanthood and not be lords over their ministries.
3. Commissioning.
The Apostolic Commissioning is an alignment between heaven and earth. An official, earthly recognition of the fact that God has called and gifted a person to serve in the office of an Apostle. It involves power in the spiritual dimension to release new declarations into the heavenlies concerning a new level of authority. Declaring in the heavens, “God, we acknowledge and receive Your gift to us in the office of an Apostle.
Commissioning is not the same as ordination, nor is it the acknowledgment of potential. It takes place after a person’s potential has been sufficiently realized, tested, tried, and become reality. Apostles are commissioned and we recognize this as an office as well as a gift. An office is what one receives as the result of a commission; a gift is what one receives on the basis of grace.
